Yes — your ROM date and your wedding celebration date can be different. They represent different events: one begins the marriage formally, the other celebrates it with your families. They can be selected separately, according to your plans and your personal charts, and many Malaysian couples do exactly that.
What the ROM date is for
The Registration of Marriage is the day the two of you sign and your marriage formally begins. It is usually a small, quiet moment — a registration office, two witnesses, two signatures. Because it is a true beginning, it deserves a day in harmony with both of you. YuanFen's ROM date selection provides three auspicious dates, each with its favourable signing hour, read from both partners' birth charts.
What the wedding celebration date is for
The wedding celebration — the tea ceremony, the banquet, the gathering of both families — is a different kind of day. It involves parents, grandparents and guests, and it usually carries the weight of family expectations. For this reason, YuanFen's wedding date selection also checks both sets of parents' dates of birth, and provides six auspicious dates so there is room to work around venues and guest logistics.
When different dates make practical sense
- Venue reality. Popular venues book out early. A separate ROM lets you begin the marriage on a strong date even if the banquet must wait.
- Family travel. When relatives fly in from overseas, the celebration often needs a holiday period — the registration does not.
- Your charts. The strongest registration date and the strongest celebration date in your window are often simply different days.
- Breathing room. Some couples prefer to register quietly first and celebrate later, without compressing everything into one week.
Can you request both through YuanFen?
Yes. Choose Both in the form on the YuanFen homepage. It's one payment of RM388 per couple — covering both selections, three dates for the ROM and six for the wedding, delivered as two personalised reports. Choosing Both never costs more than choosing just one. Every selection is calculated personally by Daniel Siew; nothing is generated by an automated calculator.
