What is Chinese wedding date selection?
Chinese wedding date selection — 择日 (zé rì), literally "choosing the day" — is the classical practice of setting an important event on a date that is in harmony with the people at the centre of it. For a wedding, that means reading both partners' birth charts together with the energies of the year, and shortlisting the days on which your marriage can begin smoothly rather than against the grain.
For generations, Chinese families did not treat this as an afterthought. Before the venue, before the invitations, an elder or a master would be asked to choose the day. It was a practical act of care: begin well, and everything that follows has an easier start.
Why a personalised date differs from an almanac date
The Chinese almanac (通胜) and the many free "auspicious date" calendars online list days that are generally favourable — for everyone, everywhere, all at once. They know nothing about you. A date that looks excellent in a general calendar can still clash with one partner's chart. And a quiet, unremarkable day in the almanac can be precisely right for the two of you. That is the entire difference: a personalised selection starts from your charts, not from a shared list. Why both partners' birth details are used
A wedding joins two lives, so the day must suit two charts, not one. Working from both partners' dates and times of birth lets us see how each of you relates to a candidate date — and rule out days that favour one of you while clashing with the other. The birth time also allows the selection of the favourable hour within the day, so the most important moment of the ceremony lands well.
Why parents' dates of birth may be considered
A wedding day involves both families standing beside you. For wedding-date selections, YuanFen also checks both sets of parents' dates of birth, so the chosen day does not clash with a parent on either side. This is a courtesy to the two families as much as a technical step — it keeps the day smooth for everyone present. (For ROM date selection, parents' details are not required.)
When should you start choosing your date?
Ideally, before you book your venue. Once you hold a shortlist of auspicious dates, you can match them against venue availability instead of the other way around. Most couples come to YuanFen six to twelve months before the wedding, but the selection itself takes only days — so if your timeline is shorter, we simply work within the window you have. You tell us the range you are open to, for example June to August 2027, and the dates are chosen inside it.

What the RM388 report includes
It's RM388 per couple, the same price whether you choose your ROM date, your wedding date, or both. For a wedding you receive six auspicious dates, each with its favourable hour, chosen from both your charts. The report explains, in plain language, why these dates suit the two of you — and it is designed as a keepsake, with your names and your photo inside, not a printout of tables.
How it works
Submit your details through the form on the YuanFen homepage. You will then be guided to payment. Once payment is confirmed, the calculation begins, and your report reaches your email or WhatsApp within three days. If your window is genuinely difficult, we say so honestly and suggest the nearest strong alternatives.
